Alone In My Kitchen

Bonjour, lovely to meet you! My name is Kanzi, and I’m absolutely thrilled you’ve stopped by Oasis Pastry. I’m 42 years old, and my heart truly belongs in the kitchens of France, where I was born and raised amidst the fragrant whispers of butter, sugar, and flour.

From as far back as I can remember, my childhood kitchen was my sanctuary, a warm and bustling space where my Maman, with her flour-dusted hands and patient smile, first showed me the magic of turning simple ingredients into something extraordinary. I still vividly recall standing on a stool, barely tall enough to see over the counter, mesmerized as she demonstrated the delicate art of folding dough for brioche or piping choux for profiteroles. You can imagine the pure joy (and sometimes, the delightful mess!) of those early days.

My journey into the world of pastry isn’t about grand accolades or Michelin stars; it’s about that same simple joy, a passion that has grown and evolved with every whisk, every fold, every experiment. After years of perfecting recipes and sharing my creations with friends and family, I realized I wanted to reach beyond my own kitchen and share this happiness with a wider community. That’s how Oasis Pastry came to life, it started as a dream to create a welcoming space where anyone, from curious beginners to seasoned home bakers, could explore the delightful world of pastry.

While this blog largely features my personal touch and recipes, it’s truly a collaborative effort, supported by a small but dedicated team behind the scenes who help bring these stories and techniques to life. Their passion for beautiful food and sharing knowledge makes this space truly special.

I’ve always believed that baking isn’t just about following a recipe; it’s about understanding the soul of the ingredients, letting your intuition guide you, and most importantly, sharing the happiness that comes from creating something delicious with your own hands. For me, the true magic of pastry lies in its ability to transform everyday moments into something special, whether it’s a simple madeleine with your morning coffee or a show-stopping tart for a family gathering. I adore classic French techniques, but I’m also wonderfully curious, always eager to experiment with new flavors, textures, and ideas. Sometimes, things don’t quite turn out as planned; oh, the fallen soufflés and over-caramelized tarts I’ve seen! ; but that’s all part of the learning, part of the adventure. Each little “oops” is just another step towards a new discovery, a new understanding. My hope for you, whether you’re just starting your baking journey or looking to perfect a tricky technique, is to embrace the process, have fun, and let your creativity flourish. I’m here to share my passion, my tips, and even my occasional culinary mishaps, all to help you discover the incredible satisfaction of baking in your own kitchen. Welcome to our pastry family!
